Scrutiny:
Brock, 2023, Comments kindly provided by Peter Barnard 1. Under Art. 33.4 an apparent emendation of -i to -ii (or vice versa) is an incorrect subsequent spelling and is not a justified emendation. So the original spelling must stand. 2. There are two different spellings in the original publication, so the correct one is either determined by internal evidence (which is not clear in this case) or by the first reviser principle. Here, the first reviser is Gray (1835). Almost certainly Gray (1833) intended the name to be childrenii, but he did not correct this in his subsequent paper (1835) so I think that we must regard childreni as the correct spelling. This means that all subsequent uses of childrenii are incorrect.
