Ctenomorphodes
Scrutiny:
Brock, 2009, Zompro 2009 proposes Ctenomorphodes should be distinct from Anchiale based entirely on egg structure 'differences'. This view is not endorsed, hence all species remain under Anchiale. Molecular work is in progress as certain species may need splitting up [if egg structure alone was used to distinguish taxa, there would be many examples where genera could be divided. Further consideration / analysis is needed before making changes]. To add to confusion, the species listed as Ctenomorphodes sp. by Zompro is similar to [but he informs me distinct from] PSG 292 Anchiale stolli, which will soon be separated from synonymy with maculata and reinstated as a valid species.
Type species:
Phasma briareus
Gray, G.R., by original designation
No first use as family-group name is recorded in the database.
