  • Conle, 2007, The characters used for distinguishing the tribe Tuberculatocharacini are not valid. There is a (shorter than in Bathycharax granulosum) distinct area apicalis on the profemora. The tubercle on the abdomen is for sure not a generic character and could even vary within a species (see Chondrostethus woodfordi). I don´t find any character separating the species from Bathycharax.
• Type genus:  Tuberculatocharax Zompro, 2005; priority for family-group names based on Tuberculatocharax dates from Tuberculatocharacini Zompro, 2005.  First use as Tuberculatocharacini by Zompro, 2005.
